Replacing Screen Time with Children’s Podcasts : Adventures of Cairo

I’ve never been the mother who absolutely against iPads. iPhones, and screen time for her kids.  In my household we believe in moderation. We let our baby girls, Layla & Linah, watch their favorite YouTube shows and I must admit, we are at the point where we need alternatives to them watching unfiltered vlogging YouTube families on repeat.

As we come up with ways to successfully replace screen time, Adventures of Cairo has been a hit for us as a family! It’s a children’s podcast centered around Cairo, a seven year old living in a big city who loves to explore the world around him. Cairo has lots to learn about kindness, safety, and even the value of a dollar, so it’s lucky he can always depend on his family, his friends, and his community to help him learn and have tons of fun along the way.

The Adventure of Cairo has served as an incredible source of family-friendly entertainment for our family to listen to together. The fact that Cairo is a little Black boy is a plus because my Black family strongly believes that representation matters. My girls and I especially love to listen while we color after dinner and before bed time. This podcast has been added to my list of ” Mommy Hacks “, assisting with our mission for less screen time and more quality, life-lesson learning time for my girls.
